“The talent of one of the greatest Italian Blues guitarists, already a sort of guru of Italian Blues – the result is an explosion of class, rhythm and energy.”

Thus has Corriere della Sera – one of the main newspapers in Italy – defined Mike Sponza, the new thing in Italy’s Blues scene.

In the last few years, Mike Sponza has established his name in Europe thanks to his recording projects and his band’s shows, presenting the powerful vitality of Italian Blues in a new perspective.

Mike Sponza’s album of 2014 is listed among the most original projects in the European Blues scene. In this album the Italian artist, together with Slovenian conductor Primoz Grasic, presents his pieces arranged for orchestra.

An unicum in the world of Blues – the classic bluesband is not only enriched by a conspicuous winds section, but also by a rich strings section, vocalists and percussions, to create a captivating groove wave.

The album was a worldwide success, thanks not only to the substantial orchestral element, but especially to the optimally-accomplished harmony with Grasic, whose arrangements show a modern sound and keep elegance and dynamics.

Since Summer 2019 Mike Sponza is accompanied in these arrangements by The 1000 Streets’ Orchestra in a happy collaboration that started in the majestic Piazzale delle Milizie, in San Giusto’s Castle, among the events of the Summer Festival Trieste Estate.
